Discover practical insights into applying Agile principles to drive project success and achieve business objectives.
What is Manifesto For Agile?
The Agile Manifesto is a foundational document that outlines the core values and principles of Agile software development. It emerged from a meeting of seventeen software developers in 2001 who sought to define a new approach to software development that prioritized flexibility, collaboration, and responsiveness to change.
The Agile Manifesto consists of four core values and twelve principles that emphasize:
Individuals and interactions over processes and tools: This value emphasizes the importance of people and their interactions in the software development process. Agile teams focus on collaboration and communication to ensure that the team is working towards a common goal.
Working software over comprehensive documentation: This value emphasizes the importance of delivering working software to the customer as the primary measure of progress. Agile teams prioritize working software over extensive documentation, but they still value the importance of documentation to support the software development process.
Customer collaboration over contract negotiation: This value emphasizes the importance of involving the customer in the software development process. Agile teams work closely with the customer to understand their needs and to ensure that the product meets their requirements.
Responding to change over following a plan: This value emphasizes the importance of being able to adapt to changing requirements and circumstances. Agile teams value flexibility and responsiveness over adherence to a rigid plan, and they use iterative development processes to continuously improve the product.
The manifesto emphasizes the importance of valuing people and their interactions, focusing on delivering working software iteratively, collaborating closely with customers throughout the development process, and adapting to changing requirements and circumstances.
The Agile Manifesto serves as a guiding philosophy for Agile methodologies such as Scrum, Kanban, and Extreme Programming (XP), providing teams with a set of principles to follow in order to deliver value to customers quickly, efficiently, and adaptively. It promotes a culture of collaboration, flexibility, and continuous improvement, enabling teams to respond effectively to evolving business needs and deliver high-quality products that meet customer expectations.
